About Us

Kelsey Black, M.A., holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The University of Tampa and a Master of Arts in Secondary Education from Villanova University. She is a certified ADHD educator and licensed Special Education teacher. 

Her professional background includes working with individuals with exceptionalities in grades K-12. Specifically, since 2019, Kelsey has served as an Executive Functioning Coach and College Consultant, teaching courses focused on metacognition, working memory, and organizational skills at the high school level. Kelsey recognizes that every student thinks and learns differently, so she customizes her coaching to fit each student's unique needs.

What are executive functions?

"Control Center" of the brain

Executive functions are the set of behaviors and skills that help people manage everyday tasks. They involve sections of the brain responsible for behavioral and emotional regulation. 

3 Areas of Executive Functioning:

  • Working Memory (allows people to temporarily hold and manipulate information in their minds)
  • Self-control (think before acting, control over our outward behaviors)
  • Mental Flexibility (ability to switch effectively between multiple tasks/subjects)
